Frequently asked questions about the Spinweight

The Spinweight is a gyroscopic cardio workout like cycling, running or swimming. But, instead of working against gravity, water or wind, Spinweight uses momentum to challenge your muscles, heart and lungs.

Why do you do it?

There is a way of feeling my way through the movement that makes me more sensitive, as my brain learns to work smarter by using my movement IQ. It's fun coordination exercise like juggling, Poi or Fire staff but it never drops or punches me in the face!

What is it good for?

The Spinweight challenges the upper body to develop coordination in many of the same ways juggling and other flow arts do but there is a very easy learning curve because you hold control in your own hands.

What is Proprioception?

Mind-body awareness. Kinesthesia. It's the awareness of the body's position and movement that comes through the nerves in tendons and muscles, through the sense of touch that tells you where you are while you coordinate movements to be where you want to be.

What is Angular Momentum?

Angular Momentum has been around since before the beginning of time in all rotating bodies with mass like a planet or wheel. It's like the momentum in a bullet speeding toward a target, but when it's going in a circle it behaves in unexpected ways.

What muscles does it work?

The brain is the muscle that works the hardest by burning calories into the sparks that fire your muscles to contract. It must produce enough sparks to fire complex coordination for every degree of motion, along all planes of movement.

Who is it for?

Every person any size or age. The Spinweight is powered by movement so it's strength comes from your own. It can never get stronger than you are, but it will match the strength of any user up to their own Vo2 max.

Will it help my brain injury?

The brain burns more calories than any other part of the body. It uses them to create sparks to fire muscles. The more sparks that are firing per minute the better that it will work. Activity = activation and activation = growth.

How does it make me smarter?

There a different types of intelligence including language, emotional, math, problem solving are all measured in IQ. Movement IQ is another category of intelligence that includes the ability to sense and respond to movement with complex coordination's that match your intention.

How strong is it?

Powered by the strength of the user - it is as strong as any user from a small child to a senior citizen, from a bodybuilder to a housewife. It works for every body at every level and gets stronger with you as your experience builds.

Why does it make noise?

The Spinweight is a torque converter that accelerates movement as it's cast along a perpendicular plane as rotational torque. This conversion of energy is accomplished through a system of gears. These gears make noise as their teeth slap together and that is what you are hearing. I am working to make it quieter but it's a difficult challenge that I have not yet mastered.
